 Goffs February Sale

  • Overall for the two day sale there was 523 catalogued and 277 sold (52%) with an average price of €13,381.

Day 1

  • Timmy Hyde bought the top lot of day 1 for €200,000 who was a half-sister to the high class juvenile Lilbourne Lad and from the first crop of Mastercraftsman. She was sold by Swordlestown Little Stud and her new buyer said she will be reoffered later in the year.
  • Joe Osborne from Darley bought a New Approach colt for €120,000 and is a half brother to Big Audio, the Listed Stakes winner, and is out of a half sister to the dams of Gilt Edge Girl, Gr.1 Prix de l’Abbaye winner, and Arcano, Gr.1 Prix Morny winner and Godfrey Street, winner of the Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes.
  • Jockey Hall Stud sold a yearling son of Shamardal to Joe Osborne for €72,000. He is out of a winning daughter of Galileo. His grandam is Italian champion Inchmurrin. 
  • BBA Ireland’s Eamon Reilly bought a yearling son of Marju for €75,000 from Swordlestown Little Stud. He is a full brother to Massive, winner of the Listed Heron Stakes. He will be back for resale later in the year.

 
Day 2

  • Jim Bolger’s Teo’s Sister was the highlight of the sale with her going to Frank Benillouche of Haras de Bernesq in France for €500,000. The daughter of Galileo is a full sister to Teofilo, the undefeated dual Gr.1 winning juvenile Champion and Gr.1 sire. She also won on her debut in Leopardstown last summer and is a daughter of Speirbhean who is a Listed winner. 
  • Cormac McCormack paid €120,000 for the 11yo mare Tarbela who is a daughter of Tarwiya, Gr.3 winner and was second in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stakes. She is also a half-sister to the dams of Gr.1 winners Gilt Edged Girl and Arcano. She has already foaled Big Audio who won the Listed Chesham Stakes.
  • Grange Hill Stud sold the 7yo Without Precedent for €40,000 to Gerry Flannery. She is a daughter of the Listed level placed, Polish Precedent, and is a half sister to Stark Danon who won the German Stakes twice. 
  • Oliver St Lawrence bought 9yo Blue Beacon from Jockey Hall Stud for €36,000 and she has a valuable Acclamation covering. She is also a daughter of Blue Buster who was a Champion 2yo Filly and won the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes.
  • Jockey Hall Stud also sold another mare, this time to Emerald Bloodstock for €28,000, and it was the 3yo Instant Queen. She is a daughter of Gone West and a half sister to Flute who won the Gr.1 Alabama Stakes and the Gr.1 Kentucky Oaks.
