Day 2

  • Out of the 167 catalogued yearlings, 90 were sold (53%) with the average price at €11,771.

 

  • David Minton from Highflyer Bloodstock paid €60,000 for the top lot who is a son of the late King’s Theatre and was bought for Dai Walters. He was sold by the Cork based Ballincurrig House Stud for the breeder Michael Carroll. The grandson of Sadler’s Wells is a full brother to the top class dual purpose mare Sesenta who was a Gr.2 and Gr.3 hurdle winner who also won the Ebor Handicap at York on the flat. He is also related to Strangely Brown who is a Gr.1 winning juvenile hurdler.  
  • Tommy Wade’s Gatterstown Stud bought a son of Presenting from Dick Frisby’s Glenwood Stud for €47,000. The half-brother to 3 point-to-point winners is out of the mare Namloc, who isa half-sister to the Gr.1 Cheltenham Gold winner Denman, as well as Silverburn who won the Gr.1 Tolworth Hurdle. 
  • John O’Byrne paid €40,000 for a son of King’s Theatre who is a full brother to a point-to-point winner and out of an unraced Anshan half-sister to Watson Lake, who won the Gr.1 Drinmore Novice Chase for Noel Meade. 
  • Goldford Stud sold son of Kayf Tara to John O’Byrne for €38,000. He is the second foal out of Maiden, who was a dual winner, and isa half-sister to Venalmar who wonthe Gr.2 Slaney Novice Hurdle. He is also related to One Gulp, a Listed-winning hurdler and Elysian Rock who is a Gr.2 placed chaser. 
  • Tommy Wade bought a son of Scorpion for €38,000 from Peter Vaughan’s Moanmore Stables. He is the third foal out of Erins Love, who is a daughter of Erintante who is a Listed winning French jumper.  
  • Peria Stud sold a High Chaparral yearling to Julie Green for €42,000. He is a half-brother to On Raglan Road who is a Gr.2 placed novice hurdler and beat Dunguib in a bumper at Punchestown. He is also related to The Bajan Bandit, adual Gr.2 bumper winner and Therealbandit who won a Gr.3 Handicap Chase. 
  • David Minton bought a son of Robin Des Champs for €37,000 from Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud for owner Dai Walters. He is a half-brother to a winner out of a full sister to Gr.3 Paddy Power and Gr.3 Hennessy Gold Cup winner Celestial Gold.  
  • Rathmore Stud alsosold a Motivator gelding to David Minton for €36,000. He is a half-brother to 3 winners, including Darenjan, who is a 7 times winner and Gr.3 placed hurdler. He was bought for Grand National winning owner Trevor Hemmings. 
  • Woodhill Stud paid €26,000for Santo De Lune who is by Saint Des Saints, the same sire as Quito De La Roque, from Moanmore Stables. He is a half brother to 5 winners including Chant De Lune who is a French based Listed winning jumper.
  • There was also a few 2 year-olds for sale and Roger Marley paid €25,000 for a son of Milan who was owned by Michael Ryan. He is the first foal out of a full-sister to Crocodiles Rock who was a Gr.2 bumper winner.
  • The end of the sale was included a few foals and Harold Kirk bought a son of King’s Theatre from Coolgrane Stud for €24,000. He is out of the winning Supreme Leader mare Honeybunch and is also related to a previous Champion Hurdle winner, Gaye Brief.
